Public engagement

Biobank Sweden is working on public engagement to increase the dialogue with citizens about biobank samples and its importance for both healthcare and research. On this page you can learn more about our work related to public engagement and how to become part of our collaboration.

Together with different patient representatives, patient organisations and citizens like you, Biobank Sweden is working to establish a long-term collaboration and a mutual understanding of biological samples.

By collaborating, we want to learn from each other while increasing the understanding of biobanking and highlighting the importance of samples for both healthcare and research. Together, we also want to make information about biobanking easier to understand.

Additionally, we are trying to identify and solve the challenges of using samples for research. This work includes making it easier for citizens to participate in research projects, if that is something you as a citizen would like to be part of.

A vital part of our work regarding public engagement is that it is done together on equal terms through close dialogue with citizens- and patient representatives.

Purpose and aim of our public engagement

  • To create venues for dialogue and together work to simplify today’s processes involving biobank samples and increase the usage rate of stored samples.
  • Learn from each other, to increase the understanding of biobank samples and their value for patient care, both today and in the future.
  • To lower the threshold for involving citizens in different projects and activities, and to increase the involvement of citizens within biobanking.

Sounds interesting?

No matter if you are a patient representative, if you are working within a patient organisation or if you are just curious and want to know more about our project.
